BlackBerry Playbook sold out-Offer extended for another week

Blackberry is the second most trusted brand in India followed by Nokia(ofcourse both of these are struggling in smartphone segment). At last they have something to cheer about. Blackberry playbook which was launched by RIM this year in June has been sold out. Not to mention Blackberry was offering a huge discount of over 50% on this stunning looking tablet due to festive season. This response was expected since other branded tablets are expensive and India is a cost sensitive country.
Blackberry has decided to extend the offer to yet another week but fresh stock is being sent to distributors. At the time of launch Playbook was having a price tag of Rs. 27,990 for 16 GB version, Rs 32,990 for 32 GB version and Rs. 37,990 for 64 GB version. These prices were dropped to Rs. 13,490 and Rs. 15,990 and Rs. 24,490 for 16, 32 and 64 GB versions respectively.
In the words of M.D.RIM India Sunil Dutt” We are pleased to see the excitement and overwhelming response to our limited festive season offer on Blackberry Playbook. I believe that the 16 GB and 32 GB version of Playbook is completely sold out in the retail channels”. According to the distributors 12,000 devices was sold out in just 4 days.
The tablet runs on a new OS built by QNX Software Systems which is also a part of RIM. The tablet is having a display of 7 inches and having full PC functionality. But it is having a major drawback. If you want to access internet then only option is Wi-Fi or by synchronizing with another Blackberry device.
The tablet segment is India is expanding very fast with a lot of companies entering the market. Playbook is first tablet by RIM for Indian market. iPad failed to impress Indian customers due to its high price. The first choice of people is Aakash-the first made in India tablet.
So if you haven’t got a Playbook,go to the market and buy one before the offer ends.
